"Why did you Rate your Supervisor Fair or Poor?"
Lack of Fairness and Trustworthiness – Time Period 1
My supervisor is really a snake! He will tell you anything just to get you out of his office and then will stab you in the back. You just can’t trust him to be honest.
My supervisor doesn’t do what he says he’ll do. How can you trust someone who won’t do his part? Then, he turns around and blames us for not having things done right, when he didn’t do his part first. I really don’t respect him.
Everything is different depending on who you are. If you are one of her lunch pals, you can do anything you want to do without having to worry about what happens. If you are not in the “in group”, you better toe the line. I’ve actually complained to her about this and so have other people and she just says if you don’t like it, just leave.
He doesn’t treat everyone equally. It’s not a race thing, it’s a friend thing. People who get promoted are the ones that he hangs out with, but since I’m an African American woman, we just don’t run in the same circles. It’s very frustrating. Other than that, he is a really good supervisor so I wouldn’t want him to get in any trouble.
He doesn’t follow the rules and procedures the same for everyone.
You never know how the rules will be enforced. I used to think it was mainly due to biases, but now I think it’s just that she is so inconsistent. Whoever talks to her last will sway her their way. If I happen to be the last one in her office before she has to actually take action on something, I usually get my way. However, if someone goes in after me, she’ll do it their way. It makes us kind of crazy around here.
Some people are just plain not trustworthy and my supervisor is one of those people. I think his approach is “Why tell the truth when a good lie will do?” Once he told me that I could have a particular week off for my vacation. I went ahead and booked my plans and when the official approval came back it was denied. I couldn’t get a refund on my down payment. It’s not like there was any reason why I couldn’t have that week. No big deals were in the works or anything. I can’t work for someone like that without getting really resentful. It definitely affects how much I go above and beyond. He wouldn’t notice anyway.
Everyone knows you can’t trust her. It’s not about anything in particular. She is only interested in herself and will screw anyone who gets in her way.
I really wish I did not work for him. It’s very difficult to come to work everyday when you don’t trust the person you work for. You’re always looking over your shoulder.
You have to take risks in order to really make things better. But around here, if you try something and fail, you get the $%&* kicked out of you. My supervisor is one of the worst! So what do you think happens? Everyone, including me plays it safe and nothing ever gets better.
