Mission and History
In 2000, the foundation of The Work Institute was set in a belief. It was Dr. Mahan’s vision that companies needed to shift from traditional Employer-in-Control practices to shared Employer-Employee Affiliation practices. Mahan knew that companies could realize growth and profitability while concurrently becoming great places for people to work. Given the pending labor shortage, Mahan, a closet workplace futurist, knew the timing was right for starting The Work Institute.
By 2002, The Work Institute was providing ROI-based, actionable data to Work Institute clients across the United States.
Since its founding, The Work Institute has achieved significant growth year by year. Today, The Work Institute operates in 17 countries and conducts employee-centric research interviews in 15 languages. The (Human Asset Vulnerability Analysis) HAVA 24/7 Online reporting tool has been a continuous investment, growing richer in its data mining capacity and increasingly facile in ease of reporting to clients. Mahan’s early vision proved to be true. Lacking reliable data, corporations all too often made strategic human resource decisions in a void. The Work Institute continues to provide the customized surveys and analyses companies require to optimize their workforce, attract top talent and retain their most valuable employees.
